Grasmere IV
Location: Grasmere, NSW
Year: 2023 - Present
Nestled into the cul de sac, this home adopts a restrained and natural material palette, along with simplistic and low-lying forms, allowing it to age with its surroundings, rather than dominate them. The home follows the natural topography of the site, cascading down the hill, revealing itself as the users walk through it. Each level holds a duality where they register as on ground, as well as within it or suspended from it.
The external character of the home is robust but warm, effortlessly drawing upon the surrounding landscape without compromising its usability. The house holds a dual personality, a more introverted character reflected in the façade, and an extroverted nature seen in the interior choices.
This architecture, together with a meticulously executed landscape design and interior fit out, form the bones to a home perfect for a young family to inhabit, inspire and invent.
