This treed, sloping battle-axe block with a leafy outlook becomes the perfect place to create a site responsive family home. The aesthetic and innovative design is modest and functional. Driven by mid-century design principles the building speaks a unique architectural language that evokes empathy, connectedness and sense of place. With expansive views over the bush reserve and river setting, gently interrupted by scribbly gum trees, this home allows the occupants to feel like they are living as one with the site. The meaningful connections with nature blur the lines between indoor and out, creating a sense of unity. Secluded from the street, the design offers the feeling of retreat and evokes warmth. The light filled spaces, celebration of natural materials, warm colour tones and textural interest all reflect the building’s intent.
Complementing the unique topography of the site, the home is the perfect balance of the building, gently nestling into the surrounds, while proudly being perched on the glorious geological forms. The design of this beautiful family home speaks of a time, and for itself. The connections to the environment and its users make it human and nurturing, presenting as a homely oasis. The design features of the home marry together mid century and modern principles, creating a unique architectural outcome. The open plan interior located at the heart of the home opens up to the site, complimented by smaller pockets of retreat throughout the home for privacy.
