This design is a family home that has been inspired by rural architectural principles. It draws inspiration from the local agricultural history and other vernacular influences of the area, responding to the rural surrounds which encourages a deeper connection with the outdoors. The design experiments with traditional forms to create a bespoke outcome, achieved through the use of materials that are unpretentious and sit modestly in the landscape. The design choices are meaningful and significant to the style of the home, being an accurate reflection of the unique identity and character of the occupants.  This family home is set to be a place of interaction, experiences and memories, encouraging a sense of belonging and contentment that will forever be an especial place.

The unique topography of the site poses panoramic views over an undulating landscape. This landscape is therefore complimented by the exclusive structure of the design, being an archetypal barn farmhouse which has been reinterpreted into a series of contemporary architectural pavilions. The large glazed openings frame the view of the surrounds, ensuring the creation of warm and secure spaces. We have ensured that the site bleeds into the home, with courtyard moments forming greater views to the external habitat and subtle formation of thresholds between pavilions.
