This Modern Australian home responds to the landscape using the journey of the built form. The structure visually and spatially creates a sense of interconnectedness between the interior and the exterior. Material selections such as timber, concrete and stone showcase the landscape while the use of North facing glazing bathe the interiors with an abundance of natural light. The interior spaces and layout will foster greater connections between the family members living within the home and will promote a relationship with the external surrounds. The home will become part of the journey, it will be a place of personal significance where lifetime memories will be formed, framed and admired.
Each space of the home withholds its own personality. The understated entrance and reflection pond draw you into the building and create a sense of arrival. The gallery acts as a continuum of time and space while functionally providing a subtle link through the home, showcasing the sloping site, forming an element of suspense as you journey towards the bold statement of the living area. The roof top garden is an extension of the internal gallery and can be used for housing sculptures and quiet contemplation. A key feature of the living area is the loft space, as it provides a place for recluse while still being connected with the family life below.
